This morning the first trailer for the Netflix movie “Blonde” about Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe was shared. In it, the actress, Ana de Armas, is seen sobbing like the bombshell as she says she doesn’t want to be abandoned before her makeup artist tells her that her friend is coming ‘soon‘ to help her.
From now on we can predict an Oscar nomination for De Armas. When told that her friend is almost here, Monroe goes from crying to smiling as she looks in a mirror at her own superstar images of her, and then bursts out laughing, hinting at her erratic mood swings.
Her sudden mood transformation is startling, but her big smile and her laugh are captivating, just like in her famous movies. She also sees the goddess of the seventh art being harassed by fans and the press while the police help the distraught celebrity through a crowd.

The film is based on a 2000 book by Joyce Carol Oates and is directed by Andrew Dominik. “Blonde” is scheduled to premiere in September on Netflix and will be the streaming service’s first original movie to earn an NC-17 rating.
“Andrew’s ambitions were very clear from the start: to present a version of Marilyn Monroe’s life through her lens“, Ana said recently.
“He wanted the world to experience what it really feels like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane. I found her to be the most daring, unapologetic, feminist version of her story“.
