Electronic products imported into the United States will be excluded from the sweeping tariffs announced by President Donald Trump, according to a notice released Friday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The exemption includes items such as smartphones, computer monitors, and various electronic components. The measure will apply to all products entering the country or leaving warehouses starting April 5, according to the official notice.

The decision comes after the Trump administration imposed a minimum tariff of 145% on a wide range of Chinese imports—a policy that threatened to significantly affect tech giants like Apple, which relies heavily on manufacturing operations in China.

Estimates from Wedbush Securities suggest that roughly 90% of iPhone production and assembly takes place in China. Meanwhile, research firm Counterpoint Research reports that Apple has about six weeks’ worth of inventory in the U.S. Once those supplies run out, device prices are expected to rise.
