Sony unveils the PlayStation Portal and announces additional details

Sony has been teasing and providing sneak-peaks at its new PlayStation portable console for a few months now. The device was first part of the so-called “Project Q,” but this morning the company finally announced that the actual console will be named “PlayStation Portal.” This new addition will be able to stream games for PlayStation 5.

PlayStation Portal will be available for purchase later this year, as its exact release date is yet  to be announced. In addition, Sony confirmed that the new console will be priced at 199.99 dollars and it will feature an 8-inch LCD screen capable of delivering 1080p resolution and up to 60 fps. Having the PlayStation 5 is a pre-requsite to use this new device.

Moreover, it will incorporate the DualSense technology, so the controllers will be placed on the sides of the console. As per its functionalities, the PlayStation Portal will connect to the PS5 via Wi-Fi and it will stream compatible titles from the home video game console. This means players will now be able to leave their living room to play their games somewhere else, provided that they have Wi-Fi and the video game they would like to play is compatible with PlayStation Portal.

Moreover, Sony also shared details regarding the new headphones line for PlayStation. The Pulse Elite, which is a wireless headset was announced as well. This device will give gamers high-quality lossless audio, a retractable microphone and noise cancellation. Similarly, the Pulse Explore earbuds will be a premium portable audio device. They will also have the same noise-cancellation technology and come with a charging case.
