Lake County, Southern Oregon was affected as a result of a wildifire. The natural disaster started over the last weekend and burned dozens of homes and left families without the 911 service and internet on Tuesday, July 25. Reportedly, all the calls to emergencies were disrupted as a result of the blazing flames that took place in Golden. Due to this, about ten kilometers of optic fiber cables and over 100 power poles were damaged.

According to the authorities, the fire blazed most structures and spread quickly due to the hot weather and the strong winds. Unfortunately, crews did not reach these buildings before Tuesday, July 25, as the conditions for accessing these areas were unsafe. One of the residents, Sherry Booth, talked about the situation she has had to face as a result of this incident.

“They were closing everything off, but we know a back way in so we did get to the house. We had to go try to save our animals, and the cops were at the house and they were just telling us to grab our animals, go, go, go.”

In order to assist people during this emergency, all 911 calls were rerouted to Klamath County, where officials have been joining forces with multiple state agencies to get emergency connections back up. In addition, temporary Internet towers have been enabled to provide service during the situation, according to commissioners. In addition, the fire fighters have been working with utility companies to repair the burnt-down structures.
