The instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, will allow users to send short instant videos to other contacts in chats. This new functionality can be compared to voice messages that have been a key part of the platform for a number of users. The Meta company says this new possibility will improve communication among users and will let them share more moments digitally.
According to Meta owner, Mark Zuckerberg, the new feature in the application will be as easy to use as sending an audio message. In addition, it was confirmed that the videos will only last for 60 seconds and it will start rolling out today. However, it is not going to be available for all users on the platform, but most will be able to access this new functionality in the coming weeks.
To help users learn about the new feature, some demonstration videos were published. They show how to record and send videos, and it is definitely quite easy. First, the user must press the audio recording icon, which is located at the bottom right of their WhatsApp chat screen. After that, the button will transform into a video icon and you will be able to swipe up to lock and record the video in hands-free mode. About the new feature, WhatsApp stated:
“Video messages are a real-time way to respond to chats with whatever you want to say and show in 60 seconds. We think these will be a fun way to share moments with all the emotion that comes from video, whether it’s wishing someone a happy birthday, laughing at a joke, or bringing good news.”
