The rapid advance of artificial intelligence in recent years has been prominent. On one hand, some might say it is helping the tech world evolve, but on the other hand, some others see it as a potential risk.

There has been some speculation regarding the possibility of some companies and jobs disappearing with the different innovations AI has brought with it, and the situation has reached a turning point when experts expressed potential consequences artificial intelligence could bring, not only in the work environment, but also for humanity.

How former Google exec Eric Schmidt thinks AI could become a weapon of war

Eric Schmidt, who worked for Google from 2001 to 2011, released a statement in The Wall Street Journal newspaper in which he expressed the different risks AI might bring to society.

There are scenarios not today, but reasonably soon, where these systems will be able to find zero-day exploits in cyber issues, or discover new kinds of biology. Now, this is fiction today, but its reasoning is likely to be true. And when that happens, we want to be ready to know how to make sure these things are not misused by evil people.

Schmidt’s words turned to be concerning, after he emphasized the risks of artificial intelligence at the National Security Commission on AI in the U.S. He does not think the United States will establish regulations for AI, which raises even more worries on this issue.
