The police in Germany c conducted some operations in response to e environmental protestors who are members of the “Last Generation” group. These activities have allegedly been responsible for a number of disobedience and illegal activities. As a result, the authorities decided to raid 15 properties linked to the group in order to punish their behavior, which has been deemed as “disruptive.” The protestors have also been spotted in other countries around Europe.

Following the registration of the 15 properties in Germany, an additional investigation has also been conducted and it involves members of the activist group aged between 22 to 38 years old. In concordance with statements by the police, they have conducted fundraising activities across different social platforms and have been able to gather about 1,4 million euros. In addition, two of the members are suspected of sabotage regarding the Triesteingolstadt Oil Pipeline in April 2022.

In addition, this year, “Last Generation” has blocked different roads and highways in Germany to pressure the government into taking faster and more drastic actions against the ongoing climate change issue. Due to this, cities like Berlin have been in traffic chaos on a daily basis, and other artworks and exhibits have been the target for the group’s protests. About this, Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, stated that “completely nutty to somehow stick yourself to a painting or on the street.” He later said the actions were “counterproductive.”

In contrast, a spokesperson for Last Generation, Aimee van Baalen, affirmed that the police has been excessive and has hit the group members and some other supporters violently, but also stated that they would not be ceasing their protests. She claimed that “they make us afraid, but we must not be frozen by fear. We must continue to resist now, because we need to loudly demand that lives be protected.”
