New York City is prepared for the 4th of July with security plan

This Monday, July 3, the New York Police Department confirmed in a press release that there are no threats aimed at the 4th of July fireworks or any other celebration taking place in New York City, according to the Chief of Patrol Services, John Cell. However, the authorities are still on alert to protect citizens and tourists during the holiday.

In this line, Chell and other officials have stated that a massive security operation is being conducted in the Big Apple. Some of these safety measures include the deployment of thousands of police officers throughout the city. In addition, 120 blocker cars, 26 sand trucks, and 50 concrete barriers are going to be utilized to prevent vehicles from moving around closed streets and bridges.

The NYPD will remain extremely vigilant to ensure that all the attendants at the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks event are safe. In order to monitor the massive event, 115 surveillance cameras will be utilized for this Tuesday’s event. About this, Police Commissioner, James P. O’Neill, said that they are working conjunctly with the city’s federal law to maintain order during the special occasion:

“As always, there are many people in the NYPD working in close collaboration with our federal law enforcement partners to ensure that everyone who lives in, works in, or visits New York City has the opportunity to safely enjoy the greatest annual fireworks show in our nation.”

The event will open to the public at 6:00 p.m. After that different access points in the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn will be set up for people. At 8:00 pm around 60,000 fireworks with different shapes and colors will be displayed. and this spectacle will be extended along the East River. In addition, the event will be broadcasted on television and will feature performances by Ashanti, Bebe Rexha, and The Roots.
