US President Joe Biden on Monday, January 24, insulted a Fox News reporter, calling him a “stupid son of a b****“, amid an uproar at the end of a White House roundtable discussion.

As the reporters left the room, a journalist, Peter Doocy, of Fox News, the favorite channel of conservatives and a favorite of former Republican President Donald Trump, asked him if he believed that inflation could be a political handicap. Biden, in a low voice and without getting up, began by saying ironically:

It is a big advantage. More inflation

Stupid son of a b****” he muttered afterward, possibly unaware that the microphone was on.

This slip-up immediately became the biggest topic of the afternoon on various television networks, of course on Fox News, which interviewed Doocy himself. The reporter later revealed, in an appearance on Sean Hannity‘s primetime network show, that Biden called him to apologize:

About an hour after it happened, he called me and said ‘it was nothing. personal, mate.’ And we talked about it and moving on’

Doocy explained to Biden, according to his testimony, that he will always try to “ask him something different than the others“, to which the president has replied “you have to“.
